ARTIST'S STATEMENT My interest in painting-- from life and from flowers in my garden--has taken a new focus in the past two years, with independent study at the Regenstein School of the Chicago Botanic Garden. I have been examining plants with a new eye as I pursue the botanical artist's discipline. I have also worked plein air at the Chicago Botanic Garden, Reed Turner Nature Preserve, the Volo Bog, the Middlefork Savanna near my home, and another restored meadow, at Mettawa Manor. BACKGROUND Together with the Chicago Botanic Garden enrollment and other recent classes and workshops, my background includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree cum laude from the University of South Dakota. As staff artist of the Wilmette Public Library, I have been creating posters and lettering with a variety of media to publicize their programs for the past twenty years. I also produce murals, constructions, and room decorations for seasonal projects at the Library.
