Artist's Statement
In October 2021, I collaborated with a long-time friend, Marilyn Kratz, to publish a book, Inspired by a Garden, containing poems by Marilyn and 26 of my paintings. It is available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, in local shops, and directly from my studio.
Botanical illustration has brought an added focus to my work in recent years. As a member of the Reed-Turner Botanical Artists' affiliated with the American Society of Botanical Artists, I join workshops and group shows. I have taught classes in this genre and bring live plants into my studio for close-up study.
I continue to enjoy plein air opportunities and, during The Pandemic, found solace in nature walks, almost daily, at the Middlefork Savanna near my home. As a result of those treks, documenting the wildflowers--as well as frogs, turtles and birds in that Nature Preserve, I produced a new set of watercolor paintings.
